Woodside Primary has a strong family feel, where every child is heard, supported and valued. We are committed to ensuring that our pupils feel happy and safe at school and that they always have someone to talk to.
Pastoral Support
We have a school based counsellor working with us to support the mental wellbeing of our children. The councillor is in school one day a week. Children are signposted to her, or can ask to speak to her themselves.
We work with an organisation called CHEXS which helps us to support children through a mentoring programme and also provides family support. We have a family support worker on site regularly and parents can go and have a chat and get advice about any aspect of parenting and running a family. Their advice has been so helpful to so many. CHEXS runs exciting events throughout the year for our families and holds regular coffee mornings which all parents and carers are invited to.
Sandbox
The Sandbox is an NHS-funded service to support children and young people in Hertfordshire with their mental health and wellbeing. In addition to providing NHS-funded support, The Sandbox is a central place for information about common mental health issues, with information on how to access additional support or emergency services.
Inclusion
We are an inclusive school and strive to meet the individual needs of each pupil. Our teachers plan work / programmes that ensure each child makes progress from their starting points, providing appropriate and adapted teaching techniques and learning resources where necessary. We have a SENCo who supports teachers, children and parents with all aspects of special educational needs.
We use outside services to support us in ensuring that your child has specialist provision where a need has been identified.
Support for Children and Families
We’ve put together some useful information for families, signposting you to organisations and guidance on areas such as wellbeing, bereavement and online safety. Please don’t hesitate to speak to us if you have any questions or concerns you would like to discuss.
